Eco-Trike Features and Specification

Picture
Solar System
The roof has 100*2Watt/0.5Volt Solar cells arranged to output 29 Volts.

Wind Power System
The blade sweep diameter is 1600mm The three blades are made from steel tubing, pvc sheet and tube. The alternator is friction driven by a 27 inch tyre turned through gearing by the blades. As the wind speed changes it is possible to control the blade speed with the gears on the wheel.

Battery Banks
Their are two 24v battery banks. A single lifepo4 15ah (Light weight Lithium battery) and the other uses two 12v 10ah sealed lead acid batteries wired in series.

Drive System
The drivetrain has two cogs on the freewheel crank and 7 cogs on the rear sprocket including an extra large first gear giving the trike 14 gears.  There is a 500watt brushless hub motor in the rear wheel and a 200watt brushed motor mounted on the chassis which is linked via the drivetrain. It is geared to give a lot of torque at low speed whereas the motor within the rear wheel make comfortable quiet cruising.

Steering and Braking Systems
The steering is controlled by two vertical handle bars which are geared to turn the wheels through an ackerman steering system.
There are mechanical disc brakes on all the wheels with independant brake levers and the rear wheel controller has regenerative braking.

Camping Systems
The bed when up sits flush to the inside ceiling of the trike. The bed when lowered reveals cupboard storage space on either side of the inside roof. A mosquito net and inflatable mat create a safe and comfortable sleeping space, the sides and front covering are made from clear pvc which roll down and clip to the trike.  There is a large storage box on the front for food, water, tools (including guitar) and the wind generator blades.  A fold out table attached to the front of the storage box and a flat pack woodburner and petrol stove for cooking.  The roof is sealed using the rubber from bicycle innertubing and with all the sides down the inside of the trike is waterproof and will protect from reasonably strong winds
